📷4.18 Photography: Silver Gull

I’m in New Zealand for spring break! There are so many cute birds here. When other tourists come near, the birds fly away. But when I’m there, they stay! Maybe I should try birdwatching when I go back to Chengdu.

I took a picture of this bird and found out what it is. It’s called a Silver Gull. Its science name is Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae.

The Silver Gull is part of the seagull family. It’s mostly white with light gray wings and black tips on its wings when it flies. Grown-up Silver Gulls have red beaks, red legs, and red rings around their eyes. Baby gulls have brown spots on their wings and back.

These birds live in Australia, New Zealand, and some nearby islands. They like beaches and coasts. I think they’re really cool!
