🐼🧑‍⚕️9.6 Panda Base VH X SU MedSchool: How do we prep blood smears?

Back from abroad. Felt a bit rusty at the hospital & lab today, but muscle memory kicked in quick.

Drew blood and checked samples from hospitalized pandas. If you’re curious how we prep blood smears:

We usually extract 5–10 μL using a capillary tube or pipette. Drop it on the right end of a clean slide. Take another slide, hold it at a 30°–45° angle in front of the drop, and push forward to make a smear.

Once the smear’s dry, it goes under the microscope. Then we start analyzing the blood sample’s results.

(What exactly we look for? That’s for another time.)
