From December 2nd to 6th, the finals of the “2024 First National Zoo Interpretation Competition” organized by the China Association of Zoological Gardens was held in Chengdu.

As the representatives of Chengdu Panda Base, Xu Xingyu, a science outreach instructor, and Zhou Hetong, a science outreach volunteer, made into the finals through the Southwest Cooperation Region, and after a fierce competition, they were finally awarded the “Zoo Explanation Star Top 10” and the “Zoo’s Most Beautiful Publicity Ambassador”. The Base won the “Best Organization Example of Zoos”.

At the finals, Xu Xingyu, focusing on the theme of “Small Stickers, Big Role - Bird Collision Prevention”, popularized the knowledge of bird collision and ways to prevent the accident, and also showed prevention stickers designed and installed by the team at the Base, as part of their effort to should responsibility in protecting wildlife. Zhou Hetong shared her interesting experience as a science popularization volunteer at the base and her feelings around the theme of “Panda Base - My Dokodemo Door”.

The Base will, as always, be committed to biodiversity conservation and science education with pandas as the carrier, publicizing the concept of biodiversity conservation, encouraging the public to take positive actions, and making a positive contribution to promoting harmonious coexistence of man and nature.
