π¦12.21 Wildlife Tech Lab: The Sichuan Provincial Winter Waterbird Survey Training Symposium
This Saturday, I had the honor of representing the "Chengdu Birdwatching Society" at a training session for the Sichuan Winter Waterbird Survey. Although the venue was a bit far from downtown, the training content was exceptionally thorough and comprehensive. It had been some time since I last studied waterbirds, so it was a valuable opportunity to refresh my knowledge. The training covered a wide range of topics, including technical plans, operational strategies, and even detailed classification and identification techniques for waterbirds.
The primary objective of this survey is to implement the directives from General Secretary Xi Jinpingβs important speech on the protection of migratory bird flyways that traverse China. This initiative aligns with the requirements set by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, which has mandated the implementation of synchronized national winter waterbird monitoring. The survey also aims to support the Provincial Forestry and Grassland Bureau in conducting thorough investigations of winter waterbird populations in Sichuan.
The training was organized by the Sichuan Provincial Wildlife Resource Investigation and Protection Station, which ensures that the survey follows the highest standards of scientific research and environmental protection.
